"Our sessions with Julia stand out by far among all the training we’ve done
Our dog had become increasingly reactive and aggressive and taking him on walks, on or off leash had become really stressful as a result. Julia helped us have a much better understanding of our dog, and feel confident in supporting him when his big energy comes out. As a result, we have fun taking our dog out again and we are confident that we can support him to calm down if he reacts to another dog."
Meet Julia, PhD
Dog training, behavior & welfare expert
After starting out her professional carrier as a dairy veterinarian in Germany, Julia became curious about how to improve an animal's well-being more holistically. This is why she moved to Canada and graduated in animal welfare at UBC. Following this path Julia discovered her passion for kind and humane animal training. All these pieces of her broad education and experience now come together when she helps dogs and humans live their best life together, and problem solve what gets in the way.
When not helping fellow dog lovers with their dogs, Julia enjoys taking her own pups on camping adventures in BC, trying new to her Sushi places (she's always open to recommendations!), and joining Louise Penny's Armand Gamache in his latest fight for justice in Three Pines.

"We were tremendously happy with our experience with Julia and our dog Molly. We are so proud about Molly’s attentiveness when out with us. One of our biggest achievements is that we no longer become stressed when faced with her feeling anxious or agitated."

Working with Neighborhound was a very positive and successful experience that helped me achieve my goals for myself and Lexi.

"Julia is kind-hearted, patient and very observant. She can pick up on things that the average person misses. She helps us to focus on our "wins" so that we can see how far we have come, as it is easy to look at what still needs to be improved"
